IP6 MES · Paperless production

MES: guided production and an audit-ready batch record

A batch rejected in a GMP audit costs far more than digitalising the production process. IP6 MES prevents errors and streamlines every production stage, leaving the complete, signed batch record — without a single sheet of paper.

Benefits

What changes on your plant floor with MES

For the production manager and the quality lead at the same time.

Right-first-time batches

The operator can only move on once the previous stage is properly closed: materials verified, parameters within range, sign-offs done.

Batch record generated in real time

Digitalising the process and signing off each stage produces the batch record automatically.

Lower cost, more control at every step

Automatic data capture from plant equipment: traceability and time spent on every activity and resource are recorded, cutting the cost of approvals and manual work.

Real IP6 MES Batch Production Record screen, with an execution step documented and its photographic evidence attached

The real screen, not a mock-up

Every step of the manufacturing order, captured where it happens

IP6 MES is made up of two modules: an electronic manufacturing guide (E-Guide) that removes paper and guides the operator step by step, and an automatic electronic batch record (E-BR) that logs every stage of the process and the time spent. Weighing, checks and in-process controls are recorded on the spot, with alerts if anything falls out of range.

The result is an electronic Batch Record validated to GMP, ready for review without reconstructing anything from paper.

Differentiation

Why IP6 MES instead of staying on paper (or in the ERP)?

Paper doesn't warn you when something goes wrong, and the ERP doesn't go down to shop-floor detail.

Versus paper

  • Impossible to skip a step or over-sign: the workflow prevents it
  • No more page-by-page batch record reviews

Versus a generic ERP module

  • Shop-floor operator guidance, with real weighing, materials and equipment
  • Built for GMP: deviations, exceptions and electronic signature out of the box

Connected to the whole operation

  • Automatically draws materials from the WMS and weighings from the W&D booth
  • Lab results (LIMS) flow straight into the batch record

IP6 MES functional detail

For process engineering and IT: what's underneath, including the standards side.

  • Manufacturing orders broken down into phases and operations, guided step by step.
  • Barcode material verification before each consumption.
  • Operator and equipment identification via NFC on handheld devices (tablets, PDAs), as well as barcode.
  • Process parameter capture with validation against defined ranges.
  • Automatic notifications and alarms for out-of-limit values or environmental control deviations.
  • Automatic compilation of the batch record with all data, signatures and attachments.
  • Deviation and exception management with an approval workflow.
  • Process modelling aligned with ISA-95 / ISA-88 (S95/S88) for MES-ERP integration.
  • Integration with SAP, Navision and Oracle, and with IP6's WMS, W&D and LIMS modules.
  • Electronic signature and audit trail compliant with GMP/FDA requirements.
  • Primary data compliant with the ALCOA principle (attributable, legible, contemporaneous, original and accurate).

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about IP6 MES

Can data be captured directly from machines and equipment on the plant floor?

Yes. The system can capture data from any type of machine, equipment or system present on the plant floor.

The MES module digitalises manufacturing lines and allows direct integration with industrial machines to obtain real-time information such as speeds, statuses, production times, stoppages or process parameters.

This enables full production monitoring and removes the need for manual records.

How is traceability managed in manufacturing?

Traceability is managed in full at every stage of the production process.

Every action carried out within a manufacturing guide is logged with:

  • The operator who carried out the activity
  • Date and time
  • Status of the operation
  • Time spent
  • Results obtained

All information is linked to the manufacturing order, giving full traceability of the process.

Does MES help optimise manufacturing costs?

Yes. By capturing real times, consumption and operational performance, the system can detect inefficiencies and optimise manufacturing costs.

The platform provides visibility into:

  • Productive and non-productive time
  • Operator and equipment performance
  • Real consumption
  • Process deviations
  • Stoppages and production losses

This supports decision-making based on real data.

Does the system manage waste, shortages and defective material?

Yes. MES allows you to record, manage and trace:

  • Manufacturing waste
  • Stock shortages
  • Defective material
  • Production incidents

All of this information is logged and linked to the corresponding order to guarantee traceability and later analysis.

Can MES be integrated with other company software?

Yes. The platform can be integrated with other systems through standard interfaces and connections.

The ERP, for example.

This keeps manufacturing orders, consumption, production statuses and other relevant data in sync.

What are the benefits of integrating MES with the warehouse module?

Integration between the MES and WMS modules automates the flow of materials and improves control of supplies on the plant floor.

When a manufacturing order needs raw material, the system can automatically manage the sourcing required for production.

In addition, material issues and stock movements are logged automatically through tickets and digital traceability.

Can evidence be added during the manufacturing process?

Yes. While orders and activities are being carried out, documentation and evidence can be attached directly in the system.

For example:

  • Photographs
  • PDFs
  • Certificates
  • Instructions
  • Technical files
  • Quality records

All documentation is linked to the manufacturing order to make later audits and reviews easier.

Can production status be checked in real time?

Yes. The system lets you monitor the status of manufacturing orders in real time through dashboards and plant-floor monitors.

You can view:

  • Active orders
  • Completed orders
  • Cancelled orders
  • Pending phases
  • Activities in progress
  • Production statuses

All information updates in real time to support operational oversight.

Does the system support versioning of manufacturing recipes?

Yes. The system manages recipe versioning and ensures the latest approved version is always used.

This guarantees document control and prevents errors from using outdated versions.

The traceability of changes and approvals made to each recipe is also recorded.
